💥 2025/26 Registration now open! 💥
Swim club is a great way for swimmers of all ages and abilities to gain racing experience in a fun, supportive environment. Members can race against swimmers of comparable ability at our regular Club Nights, with an emphasis on swimmers improving their personal best times.
Club members are also encouraged to enter local swimming carnivals (meets) throughout the year, at which they compete against swimmers from other clubs. These official meets provide an opportunity for swimmers to work towards achieving qualifying times that will enable them to compete at regional, state and national levels.
We compete all year round, with the swimming season running from 1st October to 30th September. Club Nights are held on one Friday per month at 6pm (except during school holidays) at the Peninsula Leisure Centre (PLC) in Woy Woy.
No! Swim club is for anyone who would like to practice their racing and improve their times. From our youngest swimmers just starting out, to our high achievers competing at national and international levels, we support all our swimmers to achieve their best within a fun and positive environment.
Our regular Club Nights are held in the shortcourse (25m) pool at PLC Woy Woy. We generally run the following events:
25m, 50m & 100m freestyle
25m, 50m & 100m breaststroke
25m, 50m & 100m backstroke
25m, 50m & 100m butterfly
Each swimmer may enter up to 4 events per Club Night (one event per stroke).
First-time swimmers are only permitted to enter 25m events. Once you've swum faster than the Club Night 'progression time' for each stroke, you can move on to the 50m and then the 100m event for that stroke at future Club Nights.
Younger or less confident swimmers may enter a 25m 'free choice' event (to replace butterfly), in which they can race with a kickboard or do any stroke they want. Just speak to a committee member on the night.
Time permitting, most Club Nights are capped off with a fun relay event for any swimmer who'd like to take part. Our club captains will usually also select a 'swimmer of the meet' to receive an award.
Club Nights are well-organised and efficient, with the listed events usually finishing by about 7pm. Time permitting, we will often then run a fun relay event and present our 'swimmers of the meet' to cap off the evening, before exiting the PLC by 7:15pm.
No! All of our Club Night events are seeded according to each swimmer's previously recorded times. This means that each heat is made up of swimmers of comparable ability, rather than being organised by age.
At our end-of-season presentation, in addition to our age champions we also present pointscore awards to swimmers who have swum regularly and improved on their times, so you don't need to be the fastest swimmer in the pool to be recognised as a champion.
Yes! Anyone is welcome to come along to two free trial nights at Club Night before committing to join.
You can register at any time of year, but the membership season runs 1st October - 30th September and unfortunately there is no pro-rata option available under Swimming Australia policy. This means that whatever month you register, you will need to pay the full year's fees and your membership will expire on 30th September.
Yes, you can. Visit the Swim Central Support Centre and search "upgrade membership" to find out how.
